This Indian Hand Carved Pottery comes from the Southwest Region of the Western United States. Of all forms of pottery designing, horse hair may be the most unique. It combines not only the skill of the artist but also the unpredictable forces of nature. The artist starts with a molded ceramic pot, vase or animal shape. He or she then determines the beauty of the finished piece by permanently penetrating the pot with carbon from burning horse hair.

The horse hair is applied by hand. As the hair is consumed by the fire it twists and turns, each piece becoming an original never to be duplicated again.

This pottery is for decor only. It is not intended for cooking or holding water. Do not wash with hot water or in dish washers or use strong cleaners on the surface of this pottery. A damp cloth is all you need to keep clean.

THE ITEMS IN THIS ONLINE CATALOG, UNLESS OTHERWISE INDICATED, ARE NOT INDIAN PRODUCED, AN INDIAN PRODUCT OR THE PRODUCT OF A PARTICULAR INDIAN, INDIAN TRIBE OR INDIAN ARTS AND CRAFTS ORGANIZATION AS DEFINED BY 2.5 USC & 305 ET SEQ.
