Learn From The Pros
The following is from official NASA literature. This type of fact and
information has played a BIG part of NASA's public relations over the years.
Read this while keeping in mind the thought, "could weatherization
programs learn anything from these examples?".
NASA's Publication Spinoff
For more than 30 years, the secondary use of NASA technology and its impact
on the economy and global competition has been facilitated through NASA's
Commercial Development and Technology Transfer Program. This mechanism is
employed to transfer new technologies developed in the course of NASA activities
to the public and private sector. Such wide distribution and outreach activities
result in private industry's application of NASA generated technology. Frequently
this leads to the development of commercially available products and services
(spinoffs).
Spinoff captures between 40 and 50 success stories annually. A copy of this
publication is available

The NASA Enterprise Center - Our Mission
The Enterprise Center is
a not-for-profit corporation created to assist in NASA's technology commercialization
effort. The mission of The Enterprise Center is to create and grow technology
businesses based on NASA technology.
Our primary aim is to be the best resource available to assist start-up
and existing technology-based businesses. In pursuit of this aim, our objective
is to increase the rate of business success. The Center is funded by NASA
and operates under the direction of its founder, Jill D. Fabricant, Ph.D.,an
accomplished scientist, inventor, and entrepreneur. Equipped with a qualified
staff and resources, The Enterprise Center helps technology companies succeed.
Center History
In 1993, the Johnson Technology Commercialization Center was started as
a joint venture between NASA and the IC2 Institute of the University of
Texas at Austin. Since 1993 the Center has assisted in the creation of 13
new companies, 50 new jobs, and the acquisition of over $2 million in financing
for our companies. Today The Enterprise Center is funded by NASA's Johnson
Space Center and has as its mission a new focus on company growth through
proactive needs analysis and comprehensive business assistance.
After all is said and done, a lot more is said than done.
